{"id":15526,"date":"2016-11-04T10:59:07","date_gmt":"2016-11-04T10:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rayner.com\/events-br\/blog\/warren-hill-presents-the-2016-rayner-medal-lecture-improving-intraocular-lens-power-calculations\/"},"modified":"2021-12-03T16:08:29","modified_gmt":"2021-12-03T16:08:29","slug":"warren-hill-presents-the-2016-rayner-medal-lecture-improving-intraocular-lens-power-calculations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayner.com\/events-br\/warren-hill-presents-the-2016-rayner-medal-lecture-improving-intraocular-lens-power-calculations\/","title":{"rendered":"Warren Hill presents the 2016 Rayner Medal Lecture: &#8216;Improving intraocular lens power calculations&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3640 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.rayner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/11\/1478257147519651163.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With his innovative approach to measuring biometry, it probably came as no surprise to many that the honour of presenting the 2016 Rayner Medal Lecture was awarded to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ascrs.org\/about-ascrs\/warren-e-hill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr Warren Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukiscrs.org.uk\/home-page\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS)<\/a>\u00a0Secretary Satish Srinivasan explains, \u201cUKISCRS was delighted to invite Dr. Warren Hill from Mesa, Arizona, USA to present the prestigious Rayner Medal Lecture at the 40th Annual congress of the UKISCRS in London on the 21st of October 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hill is a well-recognised name in the field of intraocular lens power calculations and has made a tremendous contribution in this field. He has been instrumental in developing the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery online calculator for calculating IOL power in eyes with prior refractive surgery and the development of the new and exciting Hill &#8211; RBF formula for IOL power calculation based on artificial intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To mark this occasion Rayner National Sales Manager Richard Thompson had the privilege of presenting the Rayner medal to the renowned surgeon.<\/p>\n<p>A highlight in the Education Program, the Rayner Medal Lecture is an important link between Rayner and UKISCRS. In 1978 the UK Intraocular Implant Society (UKIIS) &#8211; the forerunner to the UKISCRS &#8211; invited Rayner to sponsor a special lecture to be given every two years at a Society meeting.
