Rayner welcomes beehives to global headquarters to contribute to environmental goals
Posted on 14/12/2023
Rayner, a global manufacturer of products for cataract surgery headquartered in Worthing, UK, has introduced a number of beehives to their site to contribute towards their environmental and social responsibility goals for this year.
Honeybees are known to be vital in pollinating food sources and wild plants, supporting biodiversity and maintaining the ecosystem, as well as producing honey. They are also known to face threats from air pollution, pesticides, climate change and habitat loss. Rayner are proud to be able to provide five new beehives, each named after a different company value, for a colony of honeybees to thrive.
In collaboration with local apiarist, The Bee Butler, the Rayner team will form a ‘Bee Club’, enabling colleagues to tend to the bee hives once a month and learn more about the keeping of bees and production of honey.
Claire Rendell, Vice President HR, said:
‘We’re delighted to introduce our five new beehives to Rayner HQ in collaboration with The Bee Butler. As well as providing support to local biodiversity in this area, they serve as a reminder of our company values: ambition, focus, integrity, openness, and respect in everything that we do. It has been an innovative way to link our values to our environmental and sustainability efforts and get our teams involved.
‘Our Honeybees will be less active now during the winter months, but we look forward to watching them thrive and witnessing the impact they have over the spring and summer and running some fun bee related activities with our employees too.’
