RayTrace Privacy Policy

Please do not register on this site if you do not wish to have information processed by us as described in this Policy. You should read this Policy in conjunction with our Terms of Use in which this Policy is incorporated. Please ensure that you have consent prior to entering another person’s personal data on this site.

Rayner Intraocular Lenses Limited (“We”) run this site (“the Rayner Site”) for visitors who may wish to obtain information or to purchase our products using the Rayner Site. Access to our lens calculator “Raytrace” is freely available to users of the Rayner Site.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (the “ICO”) as a data controller and our processes regarding the management and processing of personal data are designed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation [EC 2016 / 679]. This Policy tells you how we deal with personal information you make available to us.

Your registration and submission of information, or an order, via the Rayner Site constitute your explicit consent to the collection, use and transfer of the personal data you provide to us in the manner described below.

We review our privacy practices from time to time and it is important therefore, that you bookmark and periodically review any updates to this Policy.

  1. The Information We Gather

Information supplied by or about users of the Rayner Site is gathered by us and for us. Information not gathered directly by us is gathered via a contracted third party (“Service Provider”) on our behalf. The Service Provider is a registered data controller. The Service Provider uses a number of security measures including Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software which encrypts and ensures the security of any information you input using the Site. The Service Provider is based in the United Kingdom.

The following information is gathered in two ways, directly and indirectly:-

Personal Information

Personal information is gathered directly when, for example, you register on the Rayner Site or for the purposes of using Raytrace. Personal information is information from which you, or another person, can be identified, for example name, address or date of birth. If you enter a third party’s personal data when using the Rayner Site you warrant that you have that person’s consent to enter such data on our system.

Tracking Information and Cookies

Tracking information is gathered indirectly when you access the Rayner Site. This information is automatically gathered and does not include personal information about you. Tracking information is gathered using “cookies” or small data files which can be used, for example, to track the pages you visit. Although cookies do not hold personal information about you they are unique to each user of the Rayner Site so that the Site computers can distinguish between users. We use session or transient cookies which are stored in your computer’s memory for the length of your browsing session. They become inaccessible after the session had been inactive for a time and are automatically deleted from your computer when the browser is closed. Session cookies allow you to move from page to page without having to log in repeatedly.

  1. How We Use the Information

Personal Information

This information is held securely by us and by our Service Provider and we access it for the purposes of handling your enquiries, providing you with information you need or require on our products, processing orders, communicating with you and generally to maintain your account with us. For these purposes some, or all, of the personal information provided by you and held by our Service Provider may be transferred from the Service Provider to us, or replicated by us and held by us in our own databases. We may supply some of the information to a Rayner appointed distributor but only to the extent necessary to ensure we can provide you with the information, services or products you request from us. Our Service Provider may have access to the information in order to perform its functions but may not use it for any other purpose.

If you register with us and use Raytrace for the purposes of ordering lenses we will provide for the storage and retrieval of your personal data in connection with the use of the calculator. By registering to use Raytrace you warrant that your data and its use do not infringe the rights of any third party. You are responsible for ensuring that the data you enter is accurate and that you have obtained prior consent to the entry of any third party personal data by you.

Personal data will be stored for as long as is reasonably necessary to provide to you the products and services you require. On the basis of pursuing our legitimate interests, we may use your personal data to communicate with you about products or services we think may be of interest to you.

With the exception of our distributors and for the purpose described above, we will not normally disclose personal information to third parties unless required by law to do so.

Tracking Information

Tracking information is used only for statistical analysis purposes, for example, to determine how many people have accessed the Site and the number of people logging in to use Raytrace.

We are not responsible for the data collection, use practices or content found on third party sites to which, or from which, our Site may link.

  1. Removal of Personal Information and “Opting Out”

If you have submitted personal data to us that you would like removed from our database and/or the database of our Service Provider or Rayner distributor you should contact us at iol_enquiries@localhost. If you are a Raytrace registered user you should contact us at raytrace@localhost. If you have submitted personal contact details to us that you do not wish us to use for the purpose of sending you promotional material you should contact us at the above email address. You may opt out of receiving such material at any time.

  1. Updating Personal Information

Where personal information submitted via the Rayner Site requires updating, changes should be notified to us at the above email address.
