Rayner to Launch Galaxy Hydrophobic Spiral IOL at ESCRS 2026

Rayner is expanding its flagship spiral IOL platform with the introduction of RayOne Galaxy Hydrophobic – combining the world’s first spiral optic with Rayner’s established hydrophobic acrylic material. Launching at ESCRS 2026, Galaxy Hydrophobic will join the current hydrophilic Galaxy lens to offer choice of material to surgeons, without compromising on visual performance.
Galaxy Hydrophobic: Built on a Proven Platform
Since its 2024 debut, more than 200,000 Galaxy implantations have taken place across 75 countries. The full-range-of-vision IOL, which was designed with a proprietary AI engine tuned for optimal patient outcomes, has built a strong clinical record for delivering continuous vision from near to distance, without the light loss and halo/glare trade-offs associated with diffractive trifocal lenses.
At ESCRS, Rayner will introduce the same proprietary Galaxy spiral optic in its glistening-free hydrophobic material. RayOne Galaxy Hydrophobic features Rayner’s longstanding Amon-Apple 360° Enhanced Square Edge as well as a new precision laser-cutting manufacturing process to minimise PCO. Pre-launch evaluations using the Real Artificial Lens Vision (RALV) simulator system demonstrate the same minimal halo profile and full range of vision established by the hydrophilic Galaxy lens.*

Experience Galaxy at ESCRS 2026
Delegates attending ESCRS 2026, running 11–14 September in London, can visit the Rayner booth (B.200) to learn more about the expanded Galaxy platform. Using the RALV system, visitors can try the spiral IOL for themselves in a simulated night-driving environment – looking directly through the lens to see the results as their patients do.
Rayner’s Lunchtime Symposium on Sunday 13 September, ‘Patients in Focus: Advanced Technology for Premium Eye Care,’ will present 12-month multicentre Galaxy outcomes and comparative clinical data against a leading full range IOL. Moderator Prof Filomena Ribeiro will be joined by Dr Victor Caparas, Dr Başak Bostancı, Dr Josefina Botta and Mr Kieren Darcy, who will also cover intraoperative strategies for endothelial cell protection with the Sophi phacoemulsification system. Visitors can take part in practical Sophi wetlabs and expert booth talks at the Rayner booth throughout the congress, focused on streamlining everyday practice in the operating room.
