Rayner, a global provider of solutions for cataract surgery and the only manufacturer of intraocular lenses (IOLs) in the UK, proudly announces today that it has been honoured with the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise 2025 for its innovative RayOne EMV increased range of focus IOL.

RayOne EMV, which launched in 2020, was developed in collaboration with Professor Graham Barrett and uniquely extends a patient’s range of vision with a patented non-diffractive optic profile that utilises controlled positive spherical aberration – providing:

  • Up to 1.5 D increased range of focus with an emmetropic target.1,4,6
  • Monofocal levels of contrast sensitivity1, dysphotopsia2,5 and high levels of patient satisfaction.3
  • A smoother transition between distance and near eyes with used in an Enhanced Monovision set-up.2,4

An indication of its popularity, over 400,000 RayOne EMV platform IOLs have now been shipped to more than 65 countries around the world, including the USA. Further expansion is planned with the recent approval of RayOne EMV by the Chinese NMPA, and the expected launch of RayOne EMV Toric in the USA later this year.

RayOne EMV was honoured with The King’s Award for Enterprise 2025 in the Innovation category, in recognition of the impact the unique lens design has on the quality of patients’ lives.

On winning the award, Professor Graham Barrett shared “RayOne EMV was the culmination of years of work so I am truly honoured to see this innovation recognised with  The King’s Award for Enterprise. I look forward to many more patients benefiting from RayOne EMV’s unique optical technology over the coming years.”

“Surgeons and patients place immense trust in us to deliver life-enhancing visual outcomes — and this award is a powerful recognition of that,” echoed Tim Clover, Rayner CEO. “It reflects the real-world impact of our technology, the trust placed in RayOne EMV, and the commitment of our teams. After receiving the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for our RayOne injector in 2020, I am immensely proud to see Rayner once again acknowledged as a leader in cataract innovation.”

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The Award programme, now in its 59th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country. Rayner is one of 197 organisations nationally to be recognised with a King’s Award for Enterprise this year.
