An experimental study was recently conducted to compare current fully preloaded intraocular lens (IOL) injection systems on the market. The study explored wound architecture after IOL implantation and the overall ease and speed of use of the different IOL systems.

This Ex Vivo study was initially presented at the ESCRS in Copenhagen (September 2016) and ASCRS (May 2017) and has subsequently been published in the Journal for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (JCRS).

The study compared the following preloaded systems:

  • Alcon UltraSert
  • AMO iTec
  • Bausch & Lomb EyeCee One
  • Zeiss CT Lucia
  • and the recently launched Rayner RayOne Aspheric

The new RayOne system was found to be best performing in three of the four areas covered within the study.
